INSTRUCTIONS TO RESET YOUR DSL MODEM
Click on one of the following:
You have only one computer connected to the Internet
- Power the computer
- Save all your files (if needed)
- Close all programs
- Click on Start/Turn Off Computer/Turn Off
- Power off the DSL modem: look at the back of the modem
- If you modem has a switch, just flip it
- If your modem does not have a switch, look for the (usually black) cord going into the modem with a round plug. Pull it out
- Wait about one minute
- Power the DSL Modem on using the switch or plugging the power cord back in
- Turn the computer on as usual
You have several computers connected to the Internet through a router
- Power off all computers
- Save all your files (if needed)
- Close all programs
- Click on Start/Turn Off Computer/Turn Off
- Power off the router: look for the (usually black) cord going into the router with a round plug. Pull it out
- Power off the DSL modem: look at the back of the modem
- If you modem has a switch, just flip it
- If your modem does not have a switch, look for the (usually black) cord going into the modem with a round plug. Pull it out
- Wait about one minute
- Turn on the router by plugging the power cord back
- Power the DSL Modem on using the switch or plugging the power cord back in
- Turn the computer on as usual
If you have problem connecting to the Internet afterwards
The first step is to follow the above instructions again making sure you follow the proper sequence
Write down the exact behavior of your computer, then call Francoise at 659-4146
In a few days, when you are asked by Green Cafe to reset your computer,
please, do NOT call Jeff as he could be swamped with calls and unable to help you.
Like a car, a computer needs regular care and tuning up.
Without these, its functioning slows down, degrades,
or stops altogether.
